Asby Bay oysters (story inside)

Alex and Susan D. run a campground and oyster place just off the Cabot Trail between Pleasant Bay and Neils Harbour. Alex has been diving for oysters the last 15 years and feels this is the best way to harvest them since it allows for the proper maturing of younger oysters. A good days catch can number upwards of 300 oysters in roughly 3 to 4 hours. He said the secret is knowing where to dig for them. The oysters caught here in Asby Bay serve many of the restaurants in the area including shipping some to places as far away as Ottawa and Toronto. Or just seat yourself at the counter where Alex or Susan will serve as many as you can eat. They are caught fresh daily when in season.
