Before the advent of gasoline powered fishing vessels, Green Cove was the site of a summer fishing station. Such stations were located closer to the fishing grounds than nearby villages like Neils Harbour. However, when the weather would turn stormy the fishing boats would then head for the shelter of Neils Harbour. Today, Green Cove - long abandonned as a fishing station - is home to various types of seabirds, now the sole occupants of this granite outcrop. --- from book on Cape Breton
