Saw the peregrine up on the pole, realized I had my 70-200 lens on and went to switch to the 400mm. Decided to grab the monopod and put the camera on it. Looked up and bird was gone. Rule number one is take some documentary shots first. I did not follow rule number one. No photo, not even a bad one.
The pigeon likely was a captive bird (homing pigeon, racing pigeon) as wild pigeons are not banded.
I saw a peregrine up on the same perch a few months ago and others have seen it since at the same location.
