I've known about this place for a number of years now. Just about everyone I know, know this place. I've seen many nice photos, heard the many interesting stories but had not visited until recently. The location is picturesque, offering a variety of backgrounds for photography. I missed the rut in November but there were still plenty of deer around. Counted about 14 today.
This is one of the best locations to photograph deer in the Ottawa area. They are tame and you can walk right up to the does (they're used to being fed). They are fond of peanuts in the shell and other goodies just like at any other place you see deer that are used to having people around.
The old Quarry Trail is located across the street from the Hazeldean Mall and has a parking area. The trail on the left is where the deer can be found including the 8(?) Point buck shown above.
