A Merlin, one of three in the area, tried unsuccessfully to catch a Kingfisher. It was a great raptor day for me. In the afternoon I was treated to the antics of 3 young Coopers Hawks. They were flying around for a few hours and one perched right in front of me with a small bird in its talon. After filling up 2 8GB cards for the days shoot I had to leave. In addition, there were a number of Least Bitterns which I got to see, some only a couple of feet away, for a few hours in the morning.
