Hi Wilson; A pleasant encounter yesterday! We googled the Barred Owl and found out that the common name is a Hoot Owl! Looking forward to seeing this specimen on your web page sometime this winter! At first glance- your pictures look amazing! Glad to have met you and look forward to looking at your professional photography

You have so many exceptional wildlife photos here. Thanks for the comments on my "window and reflections" gallery. By the way, that is a hanging poster in the store window. I was outside waiting for someone to walk by to catch the reflection like she was pouncing on him.
cheers

golfpic - been looking at your owl shots for a while now - very nice.

I noticed that a few were taken with 400/5.6 most with the 100-400 IS - do you have both? And of course, which is better for owls?

Hi Golfpic,

I really admire your excellent photos. Great to see the interaction with wild birds, as I've also been fortunate to have a close friend in a Western Scrub Jay which I've been feeding for the past four years. Truly an honor! Again, wonderful work!

Thanks. I just missed another great opportunity to photograph the Aurora Borealis on March 9th, 2004. I still have the 100eg bag but don't use it now since I bought the 300D camera. Too bad to hear about the G2 LCD. Here's a link to a diagram showing the LCD setup. http://www.pbase.com/image/14121318
Sven 10-Mar-2004 14:42
Very nice pix. Specially the Borealis ones!!
Do you still have the canon_gadget_bag_100eg pic (dp review posting)
trying to fix my broken LCD on my G2 that my daughters always want to use...
Cheers from Sweden

Thanks for your kind words. I've visited your galleries and you have some lovely images there. The indoor low-light lens you're referring to is the Canon 50mm 1.8 II. I love it and at the price it's selling for it's a bargain. As for practice, I hope to learn something everytime I play...er, shoot with the DRebel :)
Donna Sherwood 29-Dec-2003 02:13
Thanks for sharing your pics with your Digital Rebel. I have one as well. I am interested in the low indoor lighting lens. Your pictures are excellent! Donna:)
PS. I have just gotten the camera and need a tad practice! LOL

Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, the weather was just great. While I was down there I heard my share of bad weather stories. The week and a half before my visit was rainy, foggy and miserable from what I was told. Actually I was not unhappy to get some inclement weather my last day as I had wanted to experience the Cabot Trail in good and not so good weather just to get a feel for the atmosphere under such conditions. Glad I could help bring back some memories for those who have made the trip down to the Cabot Trail. I wish I had more time too. I plan to go back soon but this time I plan to stay longer. There is just so much more to see and explore as I barely touched it the last trip there. Cape Breton was voted Number 2 favourite Island (North America) to visit by Conde Nast magazine (latest issue). I like my new 300D very much. I like how fast the AF is and the very useable high ISO. I plan to get a 70-300mm zoom which will give me some reach for wildlife shots. However, I still like my G2 and S400 and will continue to use them as well.
wonjcha 27-Oct-2003 11:05
Amazing Cabot Trail images! I too experienced perfect weather on my trip there in 2001. I wished I had more time to record all the details I seem too have missed judging by your trip; but non the less, it was great to find your site. I remember camping right by the ocean our first night, and it was warm enough to just lay on the rocks and look up to to the vast star filled night. I'll have to agree, it's one of the most incredible places I have been in my life. I shall return one of these days.

Buy the way how do you like your Canon 300D?

I love the dome sequence, especially #8. Very nice composition. The range of light/shadows is nicely rendered. Thanks for sharing.
