K-16 Gypsy Compound Aerial View

The road in the lower left leads to the flight line just a short distance away. On the lower right is the little movie theater which was about the same size as the one on the TV program MASH where Radar O'rielly's home movies from his mom back in Otumwa Iowa were shown. In the background is the Han River channel that caused intermittent flooding problems in the summer monsoon season. Early Gypsy members tell me some of the blue topped buildings were not there during their stay. The building on the left of the open basketball court is the Mess Hall. To the right is the Orderly Room where Jack Hayslett and Dave Jordan worked. They basked [actually there wasn't much basking during our Gypsy days] in the warm heat indoors while we froze our butts off on the flight line during those cold winters.

This picture is probably taken after the truce with North Korea was signed in late 1952. Many of the buildings and tents in the picture did not exist in before the truce was signed.
