Gypsy Morgan Barbour [bamtriple7@comcast.net] provided this picture of Fitz. The two were in pilot class 54-H at Reese AFB, as was Gene Whaling, graduatinjg in April 1954. They were Gypsies from Aug. 54 to Sept. 55. They were tentmates at K-16 and K-14 as well as rooming together later at Ashiya. Sadly, Fitz lost his life in 1963 in Viet Nam, flying a C-123. He no doubt was flying the same kinds of support missions as in his Gypsy days in our beloved Gooneys.
Morgan wants us to never forget his buddy and our comrade.
MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND
