I shoot with two Sony a700 cameras...I really Love this camera so much I bought two of them.
Update 1-7-2010
I am currently re-thinking and making changes to my lenses. I am getting more and more interested in primes over zooms.
Here are my lenses for critical work : See below for additional comments.
Minolta 400 f4.5 G
Minolta 200 f2.8 G
Carl Zeiss 135 f1.8
Minolta 50 1.7
Tokina 100-300 f4
Minolta 100 f2.8 Macro
Minolta 1.4 Teleconverter
Lenses for walk around and fun:
Sigma 10-20
Tamron 17-50 f2.8
Minolta 35-105
Minolta 400 f4.5 APO G: My workhorse wildlife lens. Super sharp wide open. Superb with matching Minolta 1.4 TC. Minolta engineers really designed great teleconverters, I really dont see any image degradation using them. This lens is optically superb and a joy to use in the field regarding its size and weight.
Update...I recently changed to an Induro 313 CF tripod plus a Bogen 393 Gimbal head to use with the 400G lenses and this combination is a joy to use and provides rock steady support.
Minolta 200 F2.8 APO G: This lens is RAZOR RAZOR sharp. Awesome bokeh. Images from this lens are distinctively sharp and crisp...they stand out. This lens is optical perfection. This lens has become my 'Go To Lens' for horse photography and it was my workhorse lens on my African safari. As stated, this lens is truly optically in a class all by itself.
My absolute most favorite lens !!
Carl Zeiss 135 f1.8 : OMG what a lens...I gave into my lens lust and bought this Zeiss lens and I love to use it. Love the focal length for equine photography. Hard to say if better than the Minolta 200G, both lenses are the best you can possibly use on the Minolta/Sony A-mount.
Minolta 50 f1.7 This little lens does so many things so well...small, light, fast and Sharp.
I use this lens alot, it's always reliable and I love that
Tokina 100-300 f4 This lens delivers a uniquely crisp image that I really like. Big and heavy
at 3 lbs, its built like a tank. A bit slow focusing and soft wide open at
300mmm. But from 100 to 230mm at f5.6 to f8 the results are often stunning.
I also use :
Lowepro Nature Trekker
Induro 313 CF Tripod
Bogen 393 Gimbal Head
Slik Pro 800 ballhead
Optech neoprene neck straps
Hoya filters
Sandisk CF cards
BLUBB beanbag
As always, Thanks for visiting. Comments always welcomed !
