Aloha Festival, Honolulu, 19.Sep.2003

Aloha Festival in Waikiki, September 19 2003
An official ceremony at the Iolani Palace traditionally opens the statewide Aloha Festivals. Dressed in royal garments the Royal Court makes its procession following main streets in Honolulu.

The Royal Courts are represented by historical societies of native Hawaiians, who elect among themselves mo'i and mo'i wahine (King and Queen) on each Island.

On September 19 we witnessed festival celebration in Waikiki. Kalakua Avenue was closed for a big night party. Events of the day were:

  • Landing of the Royal Court at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Hula Greetings
  • Music Performances and Block Party along the Kalakaua Avenue

Of course, nothing would be complete without another perfect Sunset in Paradise! Visitors to Oahu should check   http://www.alohafestivals.com   for current schedule of these festivals.
