Waioka ( known as Venus Pool ), mile 48 marker behind Hana This is one of the largest fresh water pools on Maui, sure less formal than the "Seven Pools" but not less spectacular. Lava formations offer plenty of places to climb and to jump into the water. A tidal wall is a natural barier which protects the pool from salty Ocean swells. This is a magnificent place to spend a day on Maui! You can also see aerial image of the Venus Pool. We arrived in a time of draught. Where usually a river thunders into the pool, you can see white water bleached rock. We wished to have seen the water, locals come rather to see the rare sight of the exposed rocks, and to enjoy the quiet swim. |
