Meieli was my first Sennenhof dog, registered name; Ch. Sennenhof Meieli. I can hardly type about Meieli without getting tears in my eyes. She was my first show Champion and the mother of my first and only litter of Bernese puppies. Born in 1991, she died of cancer in 2000; a hemangiosarcoma (vascular tumor) that originated on the portal valve of her heart. I lost her within 10 days of knowing anything was wrong with her. I cried for weeks.....months, I can still tear up when I walk past her grave. This photo was taken in Atlanta by my friend, famed Bernese photographer Dr. Bernd Guenter from Germany. Meieli was a certified therapy dog who accompanied me to work and the VA Hospital for therapy work. She was my rock, my heart dog. I still own her grand daughter, Halli.
