Gothic Lolita Tea Party Gathering

Special thanks to felicity869 for taking charge of this gathering. The first three photos were captured while waiting for people to show up. The rest were taken at the gathering site at Guadalupe River Park. I ended up spending most of my time taking photos of friends and people I recognized, and very little of people I didn't. Sorry about that. Hopefully I won't make the same mistake next year.

Although I am much a newb since it has only been a few weeks since I've taken serious interest in Lolita, I've always disliked the way Gwen Stefani has made her 'Harakuku' line with the style's she is trying to introduce. She seems to be making them too...American? I am trying to say, too revealing, like an extreme ero-lolita in ways. Also, her bubble-head chibi designs and Kanji characters that she has on her items I believe are only there to attract people to her line. Because most Americans cannot read the characters and are most likely exposed little to Eastern Asian culture? Forgive me if this is becoming an essay ot something. If Japanese became what Spanish is to Americans now, her line would be on no interest as well as Kanji characters appearing on tattoos, apparel, and etc.

In Brazil we realize Tea Parties too. Is so interesting to see the GL scene in other countries!
I would be very thankful o have more information about GL fashion in your coutry! ;D~

Oh, she's alright. And anyway, it's not the elegant gothic style she's exposing, in my opinion. More of the light, bubbly styles found in Harajuku. Sweet Lolita, for example.

I am glad that she is spreading the word about Harajuku, however I believe she could do a better job understanding it. It's good that there's something going on, but that something isn't all too accurate.

hello. im doing a media studies project on the mass manufacture and marketing of subculture. could any of you answer questions for me? like- what do you think of the exposure gwen stefani has given to the elegant gothic style? i came across another message board that wernt very happy- how do you feel? do you prefer the harajuku girl style being readily available in shops? or do you prefer it as your own origional style? any help would be much appriciated!
