The St. Augustine Alligator Farm's Alligator Swamp exhibit hosts an outstanding natural bird rookery every spring. The natural wetlands of the Swamp are home to close to 100 American Alligators. The alligators provide protection to the wading birds from predators such as raccoons, opossums, and snakes. As a result every year hundreds of wading bird arrive to court, mate, nest, and raise their young. There is a raised board walk in the Swamp that makes an ideal shooting platform for photographers.
