Galen McBee deserves some of the credit for bringing the Spruce Goose
to McMinnville. He was manager of the city airport during the 1990 - 92
effort to bring the plane to McMinnville. As a helpful guest pointed out,
he was also Parks & Recreation Department manager from 1968 - 1997 and
helped design the park. It is appropriate that the park is named after
McBee, but "Airport Park" confused me. The park is a lush woods and water
retreat with little indication, other than occasional noise, of the busy
activities nearby.
