The Chilehaus officebuilding in Hamburgs "Kontorhausviertel" is shaped like an oceanliner. It was built between 1922 and 1924 by architect Fritz Höger and is one of the highlights of German Expressionist architecture. On these photos it is easy to see why the building is called expressionist.
The Sprinkenhof officebuilding opposite the Chilehaus was built in three stages from 1925 to 1943 by Fritz Höger and the Gerson brothers. It is definitely less exuberant but nevertheless has some beautiful details.
