homeless

the number of homeless people seems constantly on the rise...at last count (March 2017) over 2,000 in the city, and over 3,000 in the wider Metro Vancouver region...some individuals are resourceful, and patrol the laneways in search of recyclable, money-earning items like bottles and cans plucked from the blue recycling boxes....still their life seems harsh...not everyone can cope in modern times

I just heard on the news this morning about college professors living on the streets in California because housing was so expensive there. I understand it is very expensive in your area too. Feeling lucky to have a home!

The number of extremely rich people is increasing also, so there is something completely wrong in this world!! Strong image David! V

Strong image David. A sign of the times which will probably get worse. Here the homeless population is between 4,000 and 7,000, depending on the source. Many of these people are in need of medical attention due to their mental health, so it is not that they can not cope with modern life, but that modern society can not deal with them.

Such a sad scene. Your excellent capture shows the effort needed to even move one's belongings around.

A sad situation. Where can a man like that live other than shelter

Every city on the US west coast is facing this increasing crisis.

This is so sad - we hear of a lot of young people who cannot afford to live in Vancouver working on minimum wages. Cheap labour is going to become non existant. Good shot V

A great capture of an all too common scene. It seems on the rise everywhere. V

That's too bad. I feel especially sad for them when the weather turns cold and wet.
