donkey

apparently this is a donkey...who would have guessed?...along a riverside path a few artifacts have been preserved from the area's industrial past...in this case a 'donkey winch' used during the early to late 20thC for hauling boats up into a now defunct BC Forest Service repair yard...a nearby sign suggests this winch could pull vessels of up to 100 tons out of the water and into the facility

A fine look at the old machine. Looks like it could still do the job. V

Less stubborn than the mules I expect :)

Quite interesting information, and a well composed capture of this donkey. It's good that they preserved this old piece of equipment.

A major piece of equipment. I'm surprised it was left there. Appears to be an expensive area.

had never seen this before.Thank you for showing

How interesting that this was preserved and left standing. It seems out of place as the foreground for the row of
high priced homes. V

I guess it's similar to the mules used in the 1800's to pull boats along the Erie Canal. A very interesting find. V

This is an informative and well taken image, David I remember the Donkey engine from my maritime education...along time ago.

What an amazing historical artifact - I like how they have a bench where you can rest and admire the "donkey" ! V

The Donkey Engine revolutionized shipping starting the late 19th Century. Nice details on this one and I like the house in the background.
