demolished

Simon Fraser University, Burnaby

it seems odd that although there are buildings around the world that still stand after hundreds, even thousands of years, contemporary constructions are so often torn down after only a few decades...SFU was erected in the mid 1960s, and already structures are being demolished and replaced

We live in a disposable society. Excellent composition. V

It does seem such a shame to demolish a building that is still useable. Hopefully the university is still up and running.

Its easy come easy go these days. Our Victoria Bridge has been around for 160 years and still going strong, the Champlain Bridge is 60 years old and has to be replaced.

Great shot of this industrial-scale demolition.

It's always sad to see a building disappear ...

The tax code here is such that it pays to do that.
Helen Betts28-Oct-2016 00:46
They must have a lot of money to be able to tear down and replace perfectly good buildings!

You captured the moment well.

My initial reaction was that this was a scene from war torn Syria...with all that is going on in the Middle East.
In N. America there does seem to be a lot less appreciation of older architecture. V

Lots of these building lacked character, so not sad to see them go

A striking image, David, one that screams, "Waste." So much seems to be disposable in this modern age.

Pretty much everything is disposable these days, even buildings

Oh wow, before I saw the equipment I thought maybe there was an earthquake. Nicely shot!

Agree with Walter in everything. This looks to be of concrete construction….waste of $!

A very interesting capture, David! Is this a case of the government wasting more money?

Pity it is being destroyed and probably a waste, yet it still makes for a fascinating photograph. I like your tight framing.
