waxberry

what's in a name...this plant is nominally the Common Snowberry, yet is widely known as Waxberry...local aboriginal people considered the berries poisonous, and so called it 'corpse berry' or 'snake berry'...right now they are appearing everywhere, here along the banks of the Fraser River

since this is a gallery devoted to plants, rarely added to I admit, once in a while feel I should post something fresh...this is the only recent offering...I will leave loving close-ups of flowers to other, more competent photographers

A fine frame filling flora image. They do look pretty to look at, but then again maybe not so tasty for the birds or people. V

Excellent capture of these pretty berries. I never really knew what they were, but we had them in our garden in Budapest.

Yes they are plentiful here. I had always been told as a child not to eat them as they could kill a horse although not sure how true that is.

I wonder if the birds leave them alone too. I'll bet they make a pretty sight in big batches with the nice contrast of the green and white.

Never seen this kind of berries. Wonder are they eatable? Beautiful shot. V

You did a fine job recording this . It is new to me. I wonder if it is unhealthy for humans.

GIven how well you've photographed these white berries, you should think of doing more plant photography. This also grows around Ottawa, though not common.
