silt

although channels for shipping are dredged each year, silt carried downstream by the Fraser has built up in spots...mid-stream at this wide stretch of the river several low islands have formed, providing habitat for birds and plants...at this spot the invasive species purple loosestrife seems well established

the foreground logs are secured here awaiting transfer to a nearby mill
