stack

rock formations left stranded just offshore are known as sea stacks, and there are many of them along the coast further south in Washington and Oregon...Vancouver has just one though, a local icon known as Siwash Rock, due to a legend of the native people who first lived here

Interesting rock formation, not only the shape but the name and odd that it is one so far apart from others.

I find this a very powerful image with that silhouetted sea stack. I can imagine the people who it's named after must have seen the same sight many hundreds of years ago.
