Abruzzo

the Abruzzo is a long established cafe, and a meeting place for local Italians..it is particularly full, and lively, on weekends when they gather to watch football matches from back home..there is a team jersey on the wall, probably from Juventus

the reflections on the window glass raise another issue, the advisability of picking up a circular polarizing filter, at least for the main 18-200mm lens...in photography, the gear bag keeps getting heavier, and expenses never end

Nikon D90
Nikkor 18-200mm - 0.62s f/11.0 at 28.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

I love cappuccino too much and I can see, on the wall on the right of the photo, the shirt
of my fav soccer team: JUVENTUS.

we have a place like this!...the guys sit around gabbing in Italian...fantastic mood!....V (B&H keeps getting bigger!) :)

Very good slice-of-life image...I bet the cappuccino is great!

Full of warmth, charm and character. I was surprised a while back to
find how much a hight quality (B&W) polarizer cost :O( V

So agree with the gear thing too~ but I do love the great range so much. We should all go back to just a 50 mm. This image has such a wonderful and natural tonal range and some reflection is warranted. V

an excellent capture you made, David..
i agree with you about heaviness.. pffff
Glenn Dean (Vatorman)22-Jan-2011 03:06
Nice view just the same and the reflection adds to the whole experience.
(Look at a heavier bag this way - a free workout comes with every shoot.)

If the Italians go there the good must be good. I like this. I love the image. You did well!

Interesting shot David, my polarizer went over a 500ft cliff, never did replace it:-)...

Nice scene, it could be anywhere in Italy
Colin Storey21-Jan-2011 20:31
Great image of this meeting place, reminds me I need a new circular filter as I broke the last one, more expense. v

An engaging image with two disparate groups. One seemingly lost in their own world, waiting for coffee? The other, engrossed with tv? The geen window decal adding a nice balance to the composition.

A fine shot from the outside looking in. Looks like a great place to meet friends and make decisions on how to run the world. V

You have the Italian colors well in your photo! The characters are interesting and isn´t it amazing to have them all over the world the same! V.

I simplify my work by using only one tiny lens of 50mm .
Light and simple just perfect for me .
This is a great shot , David , like it a lot .

beautiful capture with interesting observations both of the Italians and of the polarizing filter! V

A well executed shot with many interesting details. Very good exposure. That does look like a Juventus Jersey, and as for the expense for photography, well it never ends, but then neither does the pleasure our hobby brings us. "V"
