The following are photos of "Red Mountain", which is the eroded remnants of a 740,000 year old volcano. This horse-shoe shaped cinder cone is comprised of giant formations, some of which tower nearly one thousand feet above the surrounding landscape. Vegetation is mainly juniper and pinon pine. A great area for hiking and free climbing, located thirty miles northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona in the Coconino National Forest. Hope you enjoy the pics!
