Speed for 10.01.04 World Cup Qualifiers, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Feb. 2004 |
2x4 for 10.08.04 2 (furlongs) x 4 (furlongs) from my house in south Florida
Rules for the "2 by 4" Extra Challenge:
1) Keep yourself safe.
2) Start outside your location (could be your home, school, workplace - it's up to you.)
3) Travel two units straight in one direction
4) Turn to your right and travel 4 units
5) Wherever you are, so long as you are safe, your mission is to creatively interpret your surroundings. Bring back and post photographic evidence to your website that you were actually there. Make the absolute best of whatever you find, no matter the subject or how mundane it might seem.
What's a unit?
Any distance that's at least a neighborhood block, but it could be as large as a kilometer or mile, if you're feeling adventurous. |
Unexpected for 10.15.04 This shot was taken on our way back from Key West on a weekend trip. We were about 2 miles from actual site, but luckily we had carried our bikes with us, so I jumped on one and rode up to see the above scene. A truck had lost control while attempting to avoid a car stopped at the top of the bridge. The cab remained on the bridge but, as you can see, the trailer jumped the railing and hung precariously over the side and over the water. Originally, the trailer's only contact with the bridge was by the wheels (hanging by the wheels), but as you can see rescue workers secured and hauled it up little by little. The accident occurred at 5:00am and we continued to be in stand still traffic at 1:00pm. There is only one road on and off the Keys and this mishap stopped it in both directions until well after 2:00pm. Luckily, no one was injured, but it took quite a while to get things cleared up.
