Boy Scout CampersHere a group of Ssn Antonio Boy Scouts camp out on the entrance leading to our beach area. |
Alcoa and Formosa PlantsIn the far background is the Alcoa and Formosa Plants. This is just one of many tankers that enter and leave the ship channel daily. Also you can see the shrimpers as this is a major shrimping area. |
EMS and Fire Volunteer DepartmentOur beach offers a local fire and ems department as first responders. Committed to any health emergency, water rescue, or fires, structural or land, they are on standby 24 hours a day. They have a yearly fish fry for raising funds, and a Thanksgiving Dinner to the public. Beach clean up such as today is also part of the agenda. |
Beach Clean UpBeach clean up is done twice a year. One by the fire department one by the SEA Club.
Today is free BBQ plates to all that help clean the beach and free tee-shirts. This is the check in point to sign in to get free rubber gloves and trash bags for the clean up. |
Young and OldBoth young and old take pride in the beach clean ups to make our beach a safer, cleaner place to
live. Volunteers come from all around to help. |
VolunteerROL...I couldn't help but add this photo. Here on this beach is an abundance of flounder, red fish, trout, shrimp, oysters, and many other edible seafoods not to mention fresh water catfish farms nearby and I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this volunteers tee-shirt saying to eat more chicken!! |
SwingersAlthough most of the children are doing beach clean up today, these seagulls seem to be swingers!
Our beach offers cabanas for BBqing and picnicing. Swingsets and monkeybars have been added to the childrens playground area. Trash barrels and in addition, can collecting barrels are all along the beach. The cans collected in barrels, that money goes to the SEA Club which buys palms, benches, and other things to help beautify the beach. |
