Message from Gideon Davidson
Hello and welcome to my galleries!
I am living in Japan and travelling near and far from my home base here in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture. I carry a camera with me every day just in case I feel the urge to use it and a much bigger one when I know that photos are what I'm going to do! Much of my work is done in local temple gardens, where I capture the smaller wildlife and the ever-changing seasons. I see around me a world of paradisical beauty at such times and this is what I wish to share. When I go further afielf the camera comes too- more recently I made a longish trip to Mt Fuji in search of new views of that beautiful mountain.
As you can see, I have experimented with various 'digital arts' in search of new ways to present my photos to a wider world (I think it is always good to experiment and stay fresh). You can see HDR (high dynamic range) images and follow links to my slide-show mini-films on Youtube and my photo-blogs, which I kep meaning to transfer here where I get so many more hits each day!
Recently, I upgraded from a Nikon D70 to a D300 and from my Fuji F30 to a Canon G9 (the latter in some ways being a bit of a sideways move to be honest, when it comes to indoor photography, but a big step up for everything else). I have quite a collection of lenses, my faves being my 90mm Tamron macro, a 35mm Nikon f/2 and three zooms- a 35-70mm Nikon f/2.8, a 80-200mm Nikon f/2.8 and another Tamron- their 24-135mm f/3.5-5.6. Others come out, too, such as the 50mm f/1.4 Nikon, but not nearly as often these days.
