Eagar is most recognized as having the John Wayne Ranch (26 Bar Ranch) owned and operated by John Wayne, for many years, living about five miles from Eagar. Many old time residents lovingly display photos of Mr. Wayne and their family in the living room, telling the stories as though he was a member of the family. Eagar is also close to the Apache-Sitgreaves national Forest, where hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, biking and skiing are available.
