This is just one of a number of large-scale developments taking over the town and, against which, the "old" town sits in sharp contrast. The name, Wan Nan Di Yi Jie, means South Wan Great Street. Wan is the old name for Anhui (yes, it's in south Anhui). Similarly, if you're interested, Wu is the old name for Shanghai (if you're interested, that is). I couldn't work out why the band was there...was it for chinese new year or to promote the new street? Not sure.
