Jing Xian, a town in Anhui Province, China.

Jing Xian. A town of 360,000 people. You've never heard of it. Without a doubt, I'm the only foreigner in town (you really wouldn't want to be self-conscious). Like much of China, the town is a mix of the old and decrepit and the new. The "new" is taking over. Whole neighbourhoods are being bulldozed to make way for modern, smart apartment blocks. The sheer scale and ambition of the building activity is quite overwhelming. Is it really like this all over China, even in relative backwaters like Jing Xian? I don't know. Quite possibly. I like this town. Truth is, I just like the chinese people and feel at home with them (why ask why?).
