Tombstone & Nogales, 1/06

These photos are from a trip to southern Arizona in January, 2006. We first went to Nogales, then drove highway 82 to Tombstone, spent the night there, and then ended up in Tucson the following day.

Nogales was, as usual, pretty dumpy, but it's always fun to shop and speak with the salespeople there.

One of the highlights of the Tombstone visit is its old cemetery, Boot Hill. We learned there is a special section with no graves but rather a memorial to the Jewish settlers of Tombstone. Another highlight was seeing the famous "Tombstone Rose," a rose that dates to 1885; we have two of these Lady Banksia roses in our own back yard.

Holy Trinity Monastery is operated by the Benedictians and looks like a wonderful retreat center.

The final photos show Kohl's (Sadoc) good friend, Brother Athanasius Cho, and also where Kohl had his yearly retreat, in Black Canyon City.
