The Oude Kerk, or Pelgrimvaderskerk as it is also known, takes its name from the Pilgrims who sailed from Delfshaven to the New World in 1620.
A number of artefacts in the church remind us of the Pilgrims' story. The scale models of the "Speedwell" and the "Mayflower" are among the
most important commemorative artefacts. The Pelgrims sailed from Delfshaven on the "Speedwell". This ship however turned out not to be seeworthy.
That is why they continued their journey from Plymouth (England) to America on the "Mayflower".
