Pasargadae and Naqsh-e Rostam

Naqsh-e Rostam is the site where the tombs of four Achaemenid kings were sculpted into the rocks.

Beneath the tombs are some bas-reliefs. These are from a later era and depict some of the Sassanid kings. The Sassanid dynasty reigned 226-652.

Close to this place is Pasargadae where the tomb and remainders of the palace of Cyrus II (590-530 BC), the founder of the Persian Empire under the Achaemenid dynasty, can be visited.

************
