Photographs of Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawiharn, วัดประยุรวงศาวาสวรวัหาร, also called Wat Prayoon, วัดประยุร, Wat Prayoon Wong, วัดประยุรวง, or Wat Rualek (Wat Rua Lek), วัดรั้วเหล็ก, is a second class royal temple of the Worawiharn type. The location of the temple was originally the site of a coffee plantation belonging to Somdet Chao Phraya Maha Prayurawong. In 1828 (B.E. 2371), he donated the site for the building of the temple. The temple was built over an eight year period. King Rama III gave the temple its current name and royal designation, but the local people preferred to call it Wat Rualek in reference to the fence surrounding the temple that was made of lance-, sword- and axe-shaped iron rods. Only a portion of the original fence remains today around the Ubosot and Wiharn. This is the first temple of the Rattanakosin period where the Chedi (Pagoda) was built in the Lanka or Sri Lankan style. Inside the Wiharn is a Buddha image in Subduing Mara posture called, Luang Phor Nark. It is believed to be one of a pair with Phra Sri Sakkayamuni, the principal Buddha image of Wat Suthat Thepwararam and originally came from Sukhothai.
