Uzbekistan, Samarkand, Afrosiab, Sogdian

The ancient core of Samarkand is located on Afrosiab.In the middle of the 6th century BC Sogdania was a part of the Achaemenid (Persian) empire, which existed until the 4th century BC, when it was destroyed by the armies of Alexander the Great. Sogdania was restored to life in the time of the Seleucids.
