Superstition Wilderness Area and Sonoran Desert

The Superstition Wilderness Area total about 160,200 acres located in the Tonto National Forest.
The Wilderness offers a range of scenic beauty with approx. 180 miles of trails to hike and also for horseback riding. Elevation ranges from 2000ft to 6,265ft. It consists of rolling land, with steep and vertical terrain, canyons, mesas and rugged terrain. Temperatures can reach 116F in the summer but also rain, snow and cold is not uncommon in the wintertime. Sonoran desert, semi-desert grasses and shrubs and chaparral type vegetation can be found here and many species of wildlife.
