FIELD
a. A cultivated expanse of land
b. A wide unbroken expanse
c. A background area, as on a flag, painting, or coin
d. An area of human activity or interest
Field refers to an area under the influence of some force, such as gravity or light.
It encompasses a wide variety of concepts: a shape, a pattern, a whole form,
and a configuration.
The Field is more than, and different from, the sum of its individual parts. Any attempt
to synthesize its aspects is doomed to destroy its nature. One crucial principle of Field is
its configuration as a coherent and unified aggregate consisting of lesser parts.
The Field encompasses complexity, inclusion, diversity, and it resists any form of over-simplification.
