When it comes to finding a partner to shoot fireworks with, I seem to be a flirt - I change partners all the time! The first fireworks(FW) i shot was the New Year 2006 celebrations, where Alvin, Stella & Asthee came along. Back then i was using my Coolpix 8800 prosumer camera, and with all the wrong settings, pictures were a goner. Alvin give up shooting FW, & i doubt he'll ever shoot it with me again.

My next FW shoot was the Fireworks Festival 2006 by the Italy team. Pictures were ok, but the angle was bad, see SG Fireworks Festival - Team Italy.
Lihui, my photography buddy accompanied me then. So why wouldnt she shoot with me again? Dun really know how to comment... one big joke of my life.

In New Jersey, Wildwood, USA, i experienced the longest fireworks display ever - a 20 minutes galore! See Wildwood Fireworks. Jingyi accompanied me then, and she commented that i was mad to shoot 700+ pictures for one FW display. Haha guess she's not the kinda fireworks shooting buddy for me... or was I really mad? =p

My latest FW buddies, Ms Neh Neh and Jingwei! Thanks for being supportive when I almost give up looking for a spot in the crowd to shoot, and thanks Jingwei for carrying my bag when I was shooting =) My usual camera setting wasn't suitable as the setting of f/11, 4 sec shutter was too long for the fast & furious FW. Due to the large number of FW fired simultaneously & consecutively, the 4 second shutter would capture a big fireball in the sky instead of the fine streaks of light. With some trial & error, the setting of F16 to F18, and a shutter of 2 to 3 seconds seems more appropriate, but at the expense of a well exposed background due to the small aperture settings. I checked thru the papers the next morning and find no decent FW pic being displayed, which means even the pros also have problem shooting? Haha.
