Joining a tour suck.

You are given only a small amount of time for a huge place of interest. And mind you, this place is one of the wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. Spending 8 hours of travelling and just 3 hours of sight-seeing is really unacceptable. Given a chance, I would want more time to be taking pictures from the bottom of the canyon, or even do a bungee jump off a cliff (they currently dun have such thrills).

My 3 hour memories of Grand Canyon was a fast walk through the park, trying to catch the bus that brings us back to the starting point. What kinda nonsense tour. Lesson learnt: Come to Grand Canyon with more cash in your pocket, and spend about 2-3 days here.
