Dovercourt

Scenes from Dovercourt - a small seaside town in Essex, England.

The two Dovercourt lighthouses are the most prominent features of the seafront. Erected by Trinity House in 1863, they were used until 1917, guiding ships around Landguard Point with their powerful gas lamps. The deep-water channel is now marked by buoys.

Wonderful dark mood to these pictures, a far cry from the light in Provence where I live. You don't seem to use very high isos and yet acheive adequate lighting, bravo, Peter

It was my pleasure to walk through this gallery photo by photo, enjoying each and every picture. Your passion for this area really comes through in this gallery. I was most impressed by the variety of techniques and methods you employed throughout the gallery from the long evening exposures to very long night shots, various perspectives - all so very good.
What really hit home was the reminder that as photographers, we all need that one place that we choose to become intimately familiar with, capturing it though the changing seasons and through a variety of techniques. You've certainly done well with yours in the 2 years represented here - your love for this place really comes through. One of my favourite pbase galleries. I will defintiely be back again.
