The Pelodryadidae (formerly included amongst Hylidae) include the most famous Australian frogs, such as the Green Tree and
Red-Eyed tree frogs. They usually have expanded disks on the end of their digits. Presently most species are put into the genus
Litoria, which is clearly polyphyletic and I find it rather puzzling. Consequently I have used the "radical" classification of Wells and
Wellington (1985) in the hope of getting some debate on this topic. Seriously, if these were birds showing this much variation,
would Green tree frogs be in the same genus as rocket frogs?
