Shield shrimp (Triops australiensis)

Alice Springs, NT Australia

These bizarre-looking crustaceans live in the deserts of central Australia, breeding in ephemeral pools and claypans. The eggs
can survive dessication and are blown about by the wind, resulting in these shrimps occurring on the summit of Uluru.
