This large, dangerously venomous snake is sometimes referred to as a King Brown snake. It is however, a member of the black
snake genus Pseudechis and brown snake antivenom will not be effective against a bite from one of these animals. The Mulga
snake is known as Dagbe in Kakadu and is an extremely important dreaming ancestor of for many of the Aboriginal people living
in the park. Unfortunately, this is another species of culturally important animal that is threatened by the arrival of the introduced
Cane toad, Bufo marinus, as the Mulga snake is susceptible to the toad's poison.
