Brush-tailed Rabbit-rat, Conilurus penicillatus

Cobourg Peninsular

Brush-tailed Rabbit Rats have suffered a catastrophic decline over much of their previous range over the last few decades. The reasons
are not known with certainty, but it is likely that increased fire frequency and intensity reduces food and exposes these delightful
arboreal rodents to predation by cats and other predators.
