Barred-sided Skink Concinnia (Eulamprus) tenuis

Coolatai NSW Australia

This species is common, but I saw my first specimens in Coolatai only after living there for about nine years (how embarrassing!).
These lizards are not particularly active and tend to sit at the entrance of tree hollows where their mottled pattern blends in with
the trunk. Unless one searches for them specifically, they can be practically invisible. After finding one, I found another two within
the space of an hour, one of which was only 150m from my house..
This lizard was macerated by a team of arborists on 23/3/2011.
