When Gordon approached me to collaborate on this project, my initial reaction was surprise. Why me? I asked him. He said he had read my book of childhood to adulthood reminiscences entitled: Snapshots: My Charmed Life and that he liked the whimsicality and the human approach that transpired. He
was persuasive and, I admit, like most people, I am receptive to compliments. I enthusiastically acquiesced; it was the spark he said he needed to get things going in time for the 25th anniversary of the McGill Community for Lifelong Learning (MCLL).
When we met and discussed the project little did I know we would complement each other so well? When I suggested that no one could offer a better view of themselves than those involved; he readily agreed. I prepared a questionnaire, he made suggestions on it that were most pertinent, and we
were on our way to an exciting association. I sent each of the participants a series of questions, inviting them to reveal their personal feelings and insights. The text on these pages is faithful to their words with a comment of mine added here and there.
My thanks go to Judith Schurman and Sharen McDonald for their assistance in editing I also wish to express appreciation to all MCLL members who participated in the Zest for Learning project. One of them wrote: I love my picture, ...you manage to capture the best in me( N.G.) Another ... after 40 years of marriage, my husband will finally have a photo to keep on his desk! (MA.M). All the people Gordon photographed had equally eloquent words. Welcome to the wonderful world of Zest for Learning
