Centaurus A ( NGC5128)

Hakos/Namibia

Centaurus A is a big elliptical galaxy, which normally shouldn't have any dust bands at all. Some time ago astronomers discovered, that the dust originates from a spiral galaxy, almost swallowed by the elliptical galaxy. In-falling matter feeds a super-massive black hole in the center of Centaurus A and makes it a very active radio galaxy.
