The highway from Kenai down to Homer follows most of the time the western coast of the Cook Inlet. There are only a few very small communities along the road, one of them is Ninilchik with it strong russian roots.
Homer itself is famous as the "World capital of halibut fishing", and that was exactly what we wanted to do there. We had booked an overnight tour on one of the many fishing boats, so we were allowed to catch four fish per person.
On the way back to Homer we where lucky to see a breeching Humpack whale who gave us quite a show for more than 45 minutes.
I think that's very lucky "to see a breeching Humpack whale who gave us quite a show for more than 45 minutes". I envy you. I really enjoy those Humpback whale jumping shots. Thanks for sharing.
