The garbage dump community at Stung Meanchey, Phnom Penh

Some of the poorest families in Phnom Penh struggle to make a living by scavenging on the smouldering garbage dump at Stung Meanchey. They live in plywood shacks in the village of Preak Torl, which clings to the edge of the dump. Amidst choking fumes from the burning garbage, the villagers swarm over the trash looking for the best bits of garbage to sell - items like plastics and recyclables.
