The Seychelles

In December, Amba and I went to the Seychelles on our honeymoon. We'd heard and read a lot about the islands before we went but quickly discovered the glowing reviews were really an understatement. The Seychelles are an absolute heaven for honeymooners -- incredible beaches are commodities, the people are super-friendly and the atmosphere so laid-back you'll lose track of hours and days in a very short time.

We spent 3 nights on Mahe + 4 nights on La Digue (Valmer Resort and L'Ocean Hotel respectively, both phenomenal) and hit all the highlights -- Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue, Curieuse Island's giant tortoises and probably best of all, snorkeling off the Coco Islands and Felicite Island (sadly, no photos as we didn't have an underwater camera).

The Seychelles are quite expensive -- another couple from Berlin told us the average restaurant was pricier than in continental Europe -- but well worth a visit if you are going to be there for at least a week.

One quick note on cuisine: of course, seafood is the norm everywhere but the Seychelles is also pretty comfortable for vegetarians. Every restaurant will make the effort at the least to put together a vegetable curry with rice and the freshness of the ingredients guarantees a good meal.

Here are some great resources on the islands in case you're thinking of visiting!
